This past weekend we stayed in Kyoto and enjoyed the hospitality of the Suiran property.
After going out to look at the main street shops we were walking back to the property in a pouring down rain storm. One of the staff - James aka "James Bond" ran out about 1/2 a block down the street to greet us with two umbrellas. That was amazing. In 10 years and 400 + nights of staying in hotels I have never seen that level of service be anticipated or provided.
The "White Room" provided an in-room onsen that was amazing. I had often wondered how it would be to have an Onsen in my house and I got the chance to find out. It was cool! I have to admit I used it about 10x in 24 hours. This Onsen was a perfect blend that didn't dry out the skin. With the spacious bathroom area there was plenty of space to relax.
The breakfast was a little strange after the amazing room, but it was tasty and the fresh pomegranate juice was a nice touch.
The front desk staff also suggested a Yakiniku restaurant that was of local style and very very tasty. It was about 1.5 KM from the hotel and went by the name of Lee.
